Postcard - Southern Facade, Exhibition Building, Rose Series, Melbourne, circa 1943 Reg. No: SH 960621
- This is a black & white postcard showing the southern facade of the Exhibition Building circa 1943. The postcard, which is unused, was printed as part of the Rose Series P594.
Although this postcard is undated, there is an identical one in Museum Victoria's collection which can be dated to circa 1943. This identical postcard contains an inscription written by a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) trainee. The Great Hall of the Exhibition Building was used by the RAAF as barracks and a training centre between 1941 and 1946.
- A monochrome postcard showing the southern facade of the Exhibition Building with the lake and gardens in the foreground. On the reverse of the card there is space to write a message, an address and to place a stamp. The card is unused.
