- Summary:
- Milk Can painted by Yoka Van Den Brink, 1993, using Hindeloopen techniques and Sunday colours. Hindeloopen craft techniques date back to the 16th century, to the port of Hindeloopen, in Friesland in the North of Holland where sailors developed a decorative tradition of handpainting domestic items to add colour to the dark houses through winter. Motifs include flowers, scrolls, buds, birds and sometimes bible scenes and landscapes.
- Description:
- Metal milk can with lid and handles which has been painted in the Hindeloopen folk art style. The can is has been painted dark green with a gold rim and terracotta bands and gold handles. The floral motif which adorns both can and lid is painted in blues, reds and greens. The base has been signed.
