- Copper waterbath, Chas. Hearson & Co. Ltd Hope Works, Willow Walk, London SE1 England, circa 1950. Used in laboratory at Mont Park Mental Hospital, Bundoora, Victoria, Australia. Was used for keeping blood samples at a stable temperature to undertake diagnostic tests.
- Description:
- Waterbath is made mostly of copper, it is square and stands on four straight legs. On top in a corner is a valve for pressure. The top is divided into four sections and has a peaked-like roof with lift-up lids. Inside each section there is a holder for test-tubes. One holder is missing. Under the holder racks water is stored in base for keeping temperature stable for blood. Water is released by underneath tap. On the base is a panel in centre, fastened by screws with electrical cord attached.
