Just found the material related to Whelan the Wrecker. I coordinate the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre Heritage Collection and have a newspaper article about Myles Whelan which includes a reference to "a plaque which used to hang on a pavilion in Surrey Hills before it was destroyed. The plaques carries the names of past beauty queen competition winners." I wonder what happened to it after the collapse of the Whelan the Wrecker Co? Any suggestions as to how to find out?
