- Summary:
- Used for surgery in a mental health hospital in Victoria circa 1920. Positions the tongue of an unconscious patient forward; possibly used during tonsillectomies. May also have been used for patients with epilepsy. Made by Medicon. Used in Parkville, Victoria, Australia
- Description:
- Carmalt's tongue holding forceps. Pin blade is bent at right angle which fits into a hole. Two grooves secure forceps firmly and lock the pin blade into hole. Forceps are scissor-shape.
