This particular cast is of the bottom jaw of a patient at Lakeside Mental Hospital, Ballarat. It was made by the Dentist at Lakeside Mental Hospital, Ballarat, 1973. A dental cast is a positive copy of the tissues of the jaws, made in an impression, and over which denture bases or other restorations may be fabricated. This would have been part of the patient's regular dental care regime at the Hospital.
