Illuminated address bound in a black leather album with gold inlaid decoration.

On front cover: to/Hans W.H. Irvine esq., M.H.R., J.P./Stawell 18 May 1911.
Inscription reads: "To Hans W.H. Irvine Esq/... Dear sir/your many friends in this...Grampians electorate, tender to you their warmest thanks for the good work you have accomplished...in this recent referenda. Signed Geo. Barnes & Geo Mitchum".

H.W.H. Irvine was the federal Member for the House of Representatives for the Grampians from 1906 to 1914. The referenda referred to in the address concerned the federal Labor Government's proposal to amend the Constitution to give federal Parliament power over all trade & commerce, monopolies, corporations, employment & wages. The electorate rejected two such referenda in 1911 & 1913.

Illuminated address was made by Arnold & Jackson, 1911.
