Wine Label - Great Western Winery, Chablis, 'Perthonia-White', 1905-1918 Object Reg. No: SH 901425

Summary:
Small white oval coloured paper wine bottle label, used at H.W.H Irvine's winery at Great Western, 1905-1918. The label has a gold border and depicts award medals and the Irvine crest.

Wine label is printed in black, gold and blue ink and reads: "Irvine's gold medal pure vintage Australian wines. Perthonia White, White Chablis. Hans Irvine & Co. Dowgate Hill. London, E.C. and Victoria, Australia".

Chablis was a type of dry, pale white wine. This type of label was attached to the front of small, squat, oval glass bottles. Bottles of Perthonia White had gold foil tops with two red bands.
