Dress - Prue Acton, Mini, Knitted, Orange & Yellow Stripes, circa 1966 Object Reg. No: SH 942371

This mini dress was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L circa 1966. It has possibly been shortened, as it has a large hem stitched by hand. This example was originally worn by the donor.

It was a Prue Acton innovation to design a dress based on a rugby top. According to the donor it was a world first. The design was nspired by cutting out kindergarten squares (coloured paper) into stripes.
Yellow and orange striped mini polo-shirt dress in knitted acrylic. Dress is short-sleeved with stand-up collar and front-opening bodice fastened by one hook-and-eye. Tiny orange pocket on right breast.
