Artwork - War in Vietnam, Thomas Le, Ink Wash Drawing, 1998 Image Reg. No: SH 990586

Ink Wash Drawing by Thomas Le, made in Melbourne. The artwork depicts what life was like for many families living in Vietnam during the war, fleeing from persecution, seeing loved ones killed and hiding their activities. It is one of a series of illustrations commissioned by the Immigration Museum used to tell the story of Mai Ho a Vietnamese 'boat person' who arrived in Australia in the 1970s. Copies of the illustrations were displayed but Thomas decided to donate the originals to the collection. Like Mai Thomas also migrated from Vietnam as a result of the war.
