Poster - 'Mar Del Plata', Argentina, circa 1965
Reg. No: SH 970448
- Summary:
- Tourist poster for Martha Pregal's home town in Argentina. It was sent to her by her mother in Argentina, shortly after she migrated to Australia with her husband and two children in 1965. Her mother has drawn an arrow onto the poster, showing where the family home is located. The poster was hung in Pregal's family home for many years, as a reminder of Argentina.
The Pregal family decided to leave Argentina because they saw Australia as holding more opportunity, and Mrs Pregal's Calabrian husband had family members already living here. Although she had graduated as a teacher in 1957 in Argentina, upon her arrival in Melbourne Martha worked at the Gloweave factory. - Description:
- Poster with image of a seaside town, there is a hand drawn arrow on the left hand side of the poster.
- Acquisition Information:
- Donation from Mrs Martha Pregal, 1997
