Medal - Australian Bicentenary Chamber of Manufactures 1988

A silver medal presented to the Museum of Victoria by the Australian Chamber of Manufactures in 1988 to commemorate the Australian Bicentenary. It is a reproduction of one side a medal distributed by James Cook, known as the Resolution and Adventure medal as it depicts and names these ships. The reverse features the bicentenary logo. The medal is stored in the special case in which it was presented to the museum. It also contains a plaque explaining the event. The Australian Chamber of Manufactures was relatively short-lived. It was formed in 1985 from the Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers, which had been established in 1877. In 1998 the Australian Chamber of Manufactures merged with the MTIA (Metal Trades Industry Association of Australia) to form the Australian Industry Group. - Description:
