Other Details: A bronze and white enamel medal struck in the form of the Melbourne 1998 International Council of Museums conference logo, the tower on the Victorian Arts Centre and river Yarra, and made as a pin to be worn during the conference. These medals were commissioned by the numismatic Committee ICOMON whose Secretary at the time was a Belgian. They were made by a Belgium-based company, Fibru. ICOMON is an acronym for International Committee for Money and Banking Museums. It is a committee of ICOM (International Council of Museums). ICOMON was created for museums with numismatics collections and museums of financial and economic institutions or companies. ICOMON is dedicated to museological issues and is a forum of discussion of issues including acquisition and conservation of objects, theft, management, educational projects, conceptual questions, presentation and display, control of climatological conditions.
