- Unfolded accommodation plan for Shaw Savill Liner S.S. Southern Cross. Northern Star. Colour illustrations (blue, green, black and yellow), showing sports deck, sun deck, lounge deck, promenade deck, main deck, restaurant deck, 'A' deck, 'B' deck and lower deck.
Launched in 1962, as a sister ship to the successful Southern Cross, the Northern Star was designed specifically for the migrant trade between Britain and Australia. Although able to carry 1,412 passengers she was plagued with mechanical problems, and when air travel saw a drop in passenger numbers she was sold for scrap in 1974.
