Your accommodation plan of Strathnaver 1954 Reg No HT 2674 --- I would like optain a readable copy but I am puzzled why your document appears upside down also the document dimensions are very questionably small and don't seem to relate to the document illustrated.

John - thank you for pointing that out! It will be corrected in the next update of the website. The measurements refer to the document when folded. We have referred your request for a copy of the image to our image services staff.

Amazed to stumble on this site. I sailed to Malaya in this ship when I was four years old in 1947. My father was in the British Army and we had just been posted overseas. Wow!

Hi Neil, can you let us know what you're referring to when you say 'the years stop at 1957?'. In our information above we've stated that the last voyage was in 1961. Perhaps you're referring to a different part of this or another site. We'd love to help you if given clarification.

My family came to Australia on the Strathnaver in February 1961. My memories are of a wonderful adventure (for a ten year old).

I arrived (from UK) on Australia's shores as a child with my family in 1956. I remember the children's play house, The captain's daughter was ill and I often went into her cabin and read stories with her. I also have memories of sitting with the ships telephonist and assisting her plugging cords into her plug and cord swithboard. I was saddend by the news that SS Strathnaver was to be scrapped.

Hi Leanne! That sounds fascinating, we'll be in touch. In the meantime, more information on migrant ships can be found at the Public Records Office of Victoria, and the National Archives of Australia.

In my wardrobe I have a wooden clothes hanger from P&O SS Strathnaver. I guess it must be over 50 years old. My Uncle (either Jack or Cecil DUKE) served on the ship. He was an officer and I'm told that his prime ability was to be a good dancer. :-)
