Brochure - 'Adventurer's Log', P&O Lines, 1964
Reg. No: HT 2675
- Summary:
- Brochure issued by P&O Line, in 1964. It is an imaginary account of a journey undertaken by two young people, George and Helen, on a P&O ship from England to Australia. It is part of a collection of 175 items of post-war ship memorabilia collected by John McKay. John began collecting shipping brochures as a boy through an interest in travel and later used some of the material in his professional capacity as a Geography and Social Studies teacher. He finally made a voyage himself in 1957-1958, to England to attend a scouting jamboree, although he ended up staying for 18 months. He remembers lots of Australians going over at that time, and references to Earls Court as 'Kangaroo Alley'.
- Description:
- Folded double-sided brochure on matt paper. It details the facilities on the ship and the places visited en route (from England to Australia). The front cover has yellow background with flying birds. Inside the brochure has colour illustrations of the ship and places visited on the way to Australia.
