Water-driven bench centrifuge. From era before electric centrifuges. This type was widely used at CSL. Photographs show that centrifuges were positioned next to sinks. Used by Commonwealth Serum Laboratories (CSL) Ltd., Parkville, Victoria. c1910.
Cylindrical metal stand with metal water intle pipe and outlet pipes, vertical arm wupports cylindrical metal appartus at side and extends over top of main body to support central axis spindle. Disc-shaped plate supports 4 hinged metal tubes for test tubes.
