Blunderbuss - Bellmouth, English, circa 1790 Object Reg. No: ST 021844

Flintlock blunderbuss, cal. 30mm at muzzle, brass smooth bore cannon muzzle round barrel, 35.50cm long, steel tang. English, late18th century.
Steel side lock and ring-necked hammer on R.H. side, brass oval triggerguard with plain extensions, brass plain sideplate and brass butt plate. Barrel secured by two barrel pins, two brass ramrod tubes, brass tipped wooden ramrod. Wooden stock extends to 6.00cm back from muzzle. May have been restocked at some point as wood is in mint condition, unrealistic for the age of this item.
