I restore mechanical music as a hobby and I recently acquired this identical singing bird box. I wanted to let you know that the bird box is suppose to function as the alarm. If you take the bird box apart, you will see a lever that is pulled backwords by the clock mechanism's alarm spring and that triggers the bird bos to open up and sing. Fascinating piece and the alarm function did not work on mine either until I inspected the movement and made a few adjustments. Best regards, Troy Duncan
