Summary:
Belgian sporting rifle, 'Teddy Koala' No.1, cal. .22in., browned steel rifled octagonal barrel, 59.80cm long.

Made in Belgium, circa 1900.

Barrel top at breech is engraved with an Australian scene of an early settler's house, paddocks, fence and gum trees. Comb of butt has an inlaid silver koala. Probably used by William Cole as an adult.
Description:
Breech loading steel receiver, breech block hinges upwards when hammer is cocked operating extractor, steel continental style triggerguard with foliate engraving, and butt plate. Bladed foresight, fixed rear sight. Wooden half stock with chequered wrist and decoratively foliate carved foreend.
