- Model of a reversible mouldboard 'Melotte type' plough. Fitted with two plough bodies and double front wheels. The model was made at H.V. McKay Massey Harris Pty. Ltd., Sunshine.
This horse-drawn single furrow 'Melotte type' of reversible plough was widely used in market gardens. The furrow is cut by the blade coulter and the share, then the mouldboard turns the sod. At the end of the run, the top mouldboard is swung to the ground and set-up to plough in the opposite direction. The adjustable blade-coulter is mounted on the frame above the plough share. Note the ring above the front wheels supported the reins to the horse. - Acquisition Information:
