- Summary:
- Model of a single furrow stump jump mouldboard plough. Model of the plough invented by R.B. Smith, of Kalkabury, South Australia, 1876 - the world's first stump jump plough. An adjustable weight on a hinged, mouldboard carrying member is employed for the purpose of returning the mouldboard to its work after surmounting an obstacle. The principle of the pivoted tilling member is still in universal use.
This model was made at H. V. McKay Massey Harris. Smith produced a three furrow plough before a single furrow version. This model differs in detail from published illustrations of the single furrow version. - Acquisition Information:
