Surveyors Chain - Metal, Eight Inch Links, circa 1840s Object Reg. No: ST 032373

Metal surveyor's chain used to measure land distances. A chain is a unit of length where 100 links measures 66 feet.
Brass hand grips at each end of chain. Wire links are eight inches long. Incised markers after each ten links of chain.
