Motor Scooter Engine - Lambretta LD, circa 1955 Object Reg. No: ST 025743

Summary:
Along with the Vespa, the Lambretta motor scooter built in Italy became a popular and stylish form of transport in the 1950s and 1960s. The Innocetti company in Milan began production of Lambretta motor scooters in 1946. Like Vespa, the Company's factory had been bombed during World War II. The LD 125c. c model was released in 1951 as a more refined version of the Model L. It featured side engine covers to give the scooter a smooth aerodynamic appearance.

This Model LD engine with gearbox and clutch was purchased by the Museum in 1964 and has been sectioned for display.
