- Summary:
- The Mattina solid-propellant rocket boost motor was designed for installation in Ikara anti-submarine missiles built by the Government Aircraft Factories. Mattina is the clear launch boost motor which is attached to the rear of the main Murawa cruise rocket motor and is jettisoned soon after initial launch. These motors were made by the Maribrynong Explosives Factory in Melbourne who were contracted by GAF to carry out production of the propulsion system for Ikara. This motor was donated to the Museum by the Maribyrnong Explosives Factory in 1994.
