Germanium diode assembly-on-valve-bases and container.

The diodes are type OA85. Geoff Chandler originated the idea of mounting the diodes on a valve base.

Such assemblies were used in the redesign of CSIRAC when CSIRAC came to Melbourne circa 1955. They were used as gates in the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU).
