Paper Tape Winder - Manual, CSIRAC Computer. 5 Hole Paper Tape, 1959-1964 Object Reg. No: ST 044223

Manual 5 hole paper tape winder used for winding paper tape after it had been spewed out by a reader or punch into the receiving hopper.

The end of the tape was fitted into a slot in the central hub. A knob was turned to start winding the tape. An inertial mechanism ensured that the winding was very fast. Manual winding of a long tape would have been tedious.
