- Set of standard grain weights, gilt brass and platinum wire weights in wooden box. Made by Troughton & Simms, London, circa 1865.
Used at Melbourne Observatory. - Description:
- Gilt brass weights: 1 pound (no. 1373), 2800, 2100, 1400, 1000, 700, 400, 300, 200, 100 grains, each in brass cell.
Platinum wire weights: 40, 30, 20, 10, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1, 0.04, 0.03, 0.02, 0.01 grains.
4 ivory lifters and more recent plastic forceps. Extra platinum wire weights in glass tube: 0.04, 0.03, 0.02, 0.01 grains. - Acquisition Information:
