Longcase clock, made by Alex Mitchell, Glasgow, circa 1830.
Wooden case with flat top and break arch dial with geometrical frets in corners and twisted columns at sides. Has brass dial and chapter ring. Centre of dial inscribed with floral motifs. a seconds dial is below 12 and a calendar aperture above 6, surrounded by raised serpent ornaments. Spandrels have faces and shells in them.

Anchor escapement.

i have a long case clock by Mitchell of the gorbals just like the one you describe it was my grandparent it was left to me it was in storage for years I brought it out and its going well its a lovely clock im very lucky to have it left to me reg George aitchison
