Can you tell me anything about a silver pocket watch made by Thomas Russell and sons of liverpool?
The date letter is a capital R in a square with cut off corners, The watch and case number are both 100750. Hallmarks are a Lion and a shield with a sword and 3 marks, the letters TR are also stamped into the case. This watch belonged to my wifes grandfather so value is not really a consideration. I thank you for your time and assistance D. Cowton

Hi David and thanks for your enquiry. We would recommend that you view the website Antiquarian Horological Society(UK)http://www.ahsoc.demon.co.uk/ to locate a reliable horologist in your area. They should be able to give you further information about the watchmaker and the watch itself.

Hi John and thanks for the enquiry. If you are looking for a watch to compare one that you have to, or perhaps you are looking for parts for a watch you have, you may need to contact a horologist in your local area. Consider the Antiquarian Horological Society, http://www.ahsoc.demon.co.uk/
or perhaps the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, http://www.clockandwatchclub.com/default.htm

I have a family watch with this face and movement; however, it is an Illinois Watch Case Elgin "The Russell Model" 2189454. My family was from England and I am wondering how old and rare this watch is. Ronald Crowther, Rehoboth MA 02769 USA

Hi there Ronald. In cases such as this it is better to see the watch in person. You should contact the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors http://www.nawcc.org/ or the American Clock & Watch Museum http://clockandwatchmuseum.org/Home.asp both of which might be able to put you in touch with a horologist in your area who can examine the watch for you.
