Presentation watch, inscribed on inner case: 'Presented to W. H. Soul Esq on the eve of his departure for England by a few of his business friends as a small token of their esteem, Sydney, March 1899'.

In 1872 Washington Handley Soul and his father Caleb Soul opened a drug store and dispensary in Pitt Street, Sydney. The business flourished, and in 1903 amalgamated with Pattinson & Co. to become a public company, Washington H. Soul, Pattinson & Co. Soul retired from active business after 1903.
Description:: Gold hunter case is marked 18 carat. London hallmark for 1887 (uncrowned leopard, capital m). White dial has roman numerals and seconds dial at 9.
