Summary:
Maker's plate from a Pratt & Whitney R-1830-82 Twin Wasp aero engine licence-built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Ltd (CAC). Marked 'Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Ltd Aircraft Engine Factory, Lidcombe, NSW Model Twin Wasp R1830-82 Mfrs no. 2'. This plate appears to be from the second production engine built by CAC which was built in late 1941. The first CAC Twin Wasp engine was completed on 28 October 1941. The CAC Twin Wasp, (along U.S-built Twin Wasps) was fitted to the locally manufactured DAP Beaufort bomber and CAC Boomerang fighter aircraft.
