Type D.12 course-setting aircraft compass (serial no. Z-4511) made by Bendix Aviation Corporation, Eclipse Pioneer Division at Teterboro, New Jersey. Dated 1940 with a luminised grid. This type of compass was used for primary navigation by large USAAF aircraft such as the Boeing B17 Flying Fortress. This example was used by Australian National Airways.

My father worked for Bendix for 45 years and worked on the guidance systems and I believe that Bendix was located in Teterboro not Peterboro, New Jersey.
