This chrome plated presentation model of an AB 204 Italian military helicopter was donated to the Museum by the Australian War Memorial in 1971. It had previously been donated to the War Memorial by the Italian Embassy in Canberra. It carries Italian Air Force markings.
Aircraft History:
The AB 204 is the Italian-built civilian version of the UH-1B light utility helicopter built for the US Army by the Bell Aircraft Corporation in the United States. The type first flew in 1956 and was introduced to military service in 1959. The Royal Australian Air Force operated the type in Vietnam. The AB 204 was built in Italy by Agusta under licence in the 1960s. - Description:
