Other Details: The coronation of Edward VII in 1902 prompted major celebrations in Australia. It was an opportunity for the new nation to reaffirm its pride at being a key member of the British Empire. Over 40 different medals were produced around Australia, including this medal issued by the Healesville Shire Council. It names J. Crowley as Shire President - Crowley Road, Healesville, may be named after him. Healesville at that time had a population of less than 1,000 people. It was principally a farming district, replete with orchards, vegetables and tobacco plantations. It was also becoming a popular tourist destination.
