- Summary:
- Copper one Penny Token, minted by Thomas Stokes in Melbourne. Issued by Hugh Peck, an Estate Agent & Money Lender in Melbourne, circa 1862. Hugh Peck arrived in Victoria in 1852 and established a wholesale hay and corn store in Fitzroy. In 1853 opened a business as 'speculator, auctioneer, and house and land agent' in city. In 1859 he was listed as a Provision Merchant in Collingwood, then as a 'House and estate agent' in 1861. He issued his tokens in 1862.

| References: | Two die setting are known with this die combination: 12 (NU 4223) and 06 (this token). This suggests that Peck made two orders from Stokes. It has been suggested that the reverse die may have failed during the second order and was replaced to complete it with a Stokes stock Arms reverse (see NU 4226). |
