Cross shaped medal, struck in white metal, issued to commemorate the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. A portrait of Lord Hopetoun, the first Governor-General of Australia, is depicted on the obverse. On the obverse arms of the cross are a rose, a leaf, a golden fleece and a star within a sun.
