Statement Of Significance:
This medal commemorates the laying of the foundation stone for the new Quay at Paris to be called the Quay Desaux after the General of that name killed during a cavalry charge in the Battle of Marengo. The new quay was between the bridge of Notre Dame and the Pont au Change.
