I have the Australia Halfpenny 1943 you described with Bare head of George VI facing left; around, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: ; below the head in small lettering the artist's initials HP. However, there is no kangaroo on back, but with pirate-like ship on the back. It does say half penny about the ship.
