This commemorative fifty cent coin features the logo of the Games over a map of Australia; around the logo are figures representing some sports played at the Games: Table Tennis, Badminton, Gymnastics, Archery, Volleyball, Wrestling, Swimming, Boxing, Cycling, Weightlifting, Lawn Bowls and Shooting. The reverse was designed by Stuart Devlin, incorporating the logo designed by Hugh Edwards, the winner of a nation-wide competition held in 1978. The symbol is derived from the form of a bounding kangaroo

A twelve-sided cupru-nickel coin (31.5 mm diameter with plain edge) featuring on the obverse a diademed bust of Elizabeth II facing right; around, ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1982.
