Snake Bite Kit - Cutter Hi-Lo, circa 1984 Document Reg. No: HT 3235

Cutter Hi-Lo (TM) snake bite kit and packaging, for emerency treatment of snake bite, about 1984. Traditionally, a tourniquet was applied between the bite and the heart to keep the venom away from the circulation. A blade was then used to cut around the bite, and the venom was washed out with the blood, usually aided by suction. Used by Commonwealth Serum Laboratories (CSL) Limited, Parkville, Victoria.

Hi Sue. Our expertise is in Victorian History and I would suggest that you try two avenues. One is contacting Bayer, which took over Cutter Laboratories and may have old company records. The other is to contact the Boy Scouts of America, to see if they have an archive or history collection, which might help you out.
