Other Details: The R.W. Chapman medal was established in 1932 by the Institution of Engineers Australia in honour of Sir Robert William Chapman, a Foundation Chancellor and a President of the Institution. It is awarded for an original paper on structural engineering. Chapman was an engineer and mathematician who became the first Professor of Engineering at the University of Adelaide in 1907. He was Professor of Mathematics at Adelaide 1910-19 and in 1920 returned to the chair of engineering, a position he held until his retirement in 1937.
