The reverse was designed by Stuart Devlin, incorporating the logo designed by Hugh Edwards, the winner of a nation-wide competition held in 1978. The symbol is derived from the form of a bounding kangaroo

A round silver coin (34 mm diameter with milled edge in a red case 114 * 57 mm open) featuring a draped bust of Elizabeth II facing right on the obverse and the logo on the reverse surrounded by figures representing some sports played at the Games: Table Tennis, Badminton, Gymnastics, Archery, Vollyball, Wrestling, Swimming, Boxing, Cycling, Weightlifting, Lawn Bowls and Shooting.
