Fleming's trade token issue involved two slightly different obverse dies and two slightly different reverse dies in its production. Identification of these dies is employed both for the standard references and the museum's storage system. Obverse A only occurs with reverse 1 and obverse B with reverse 2 so it is possible that the issue was struck on two presses at the one time. Obverse A: a single scroll leaf points to the bead after the R of DEALER Obverse B: a single scroll leaf points to the R of DEALER Reverse 1: The base of the sugar loaf is 8.0 mm Reverse 2: The base of the sugar loaf is 7.0 mm This token was struck with dies A/1 |
