The moon is at first quarter, not in 'half shadow'. The GMT was used for lunar photography at the prime focus mainly between 1872 and 1875. As it was not used for scientific work to any extent after 1894, dating the photo to the 1900s doesn't make sense. The same applies to the following photo except the phase is gibbous.
