Lantern Slide - 'The Miller, His Son & Their Donkey', On the Way to Market, 1850-1900 Reg. No: MM 31853
- One of a series of late 19th century lantern slides, depicting the story of 'The Miller, His Son & Their Donkey', one of Aesop's fables.
This lantern slide is part of the Francis Collection of pre-cinematic apparatus and ephemera, acquired by the Australian and Victorian Governments in 1975. David Francis was the curator of the National Film and Sound Archive of the British Film Institute as well as being a co-founder of the Museum of the Moving Image in London, which was operational between 1988 and 1999.

- Hand coloured illustration. A father and son are on their way to market to sell their donkey. They have stopped to talk to a group of women with a child. There is a church spire in the background.
