Description Of Content:
The Great Melbourne Telescope being erected at the Melbourne Observatory, 1869. The main tube of the telescope has been placed in position on the masonry mount. Workmen on the project are standing alongside the telescope. In the foreground there are building materials and equipment, including blocks of masonry and a Derrick crane [at left].
