Lantern Slide - A Christmas Carol, 'The Ghost of Christmas Past', 1843-1880 Reg. No: MM 20514
- Number 2 in a set of twelve slides in the series 'A Christmas Carol'.
'A Christmas Carol' is a novella by English author Charles Dickens. It was first published by Chapman and Hall on 19 December 1843. The story tells of sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge's ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation after the supernatural visitations of Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.
This lantern slide is part of the Francis Collection of pre-cinematic apparatus and ephemera, acquired by the Australian and Victorian Governments in 1975. David Francis was the curator of the National Film and Sound Archive of the British Film Institute as well as being a co-founder of the Museum of the Moving Image in London, which was operational between 1988 and 1999.

- Hand painted colour image of a man in green robes holding a flame by a stove while a smaller man (Scrooge) in a nightgown looks on.
