The date range for this photograph is taken from a similar photograph of the Mr Harvie gardening with his daughter, Ellison Harvie, see MM 043216.
There are a number of photographs in the collection of the Harvie family in gardens, presumably at the family's various residential addresses. For the dates during which it is thought this photograph was taken, the family lived at three different addresses: 4 The Terrace, Malvern, from 1908 to 1911; 4 Inverness Ave, Malvern, from 1911 to 1913; and 27 Chanak Street, East Malvern, from 1913 onwards, however it is unclear at which address this photograph was taken. - Description:

- Robert Harvie leaning on a shovel while gardening in a backyard. Mr Harvie is wearing a white shirt and black pants. In the foreground of the image there is vegetation and a bush, and in the background there is a wooden fence, barrels and trees.
