Museum Victoria Comment
Hi Colleen, we are not sure of the origin of the town's name but there is a book on it's history: Red Gums and Hard Yakka, M A History of Elderslie and Langkoop 1843, by M Neale. This might help you out or you could contact a local history society in the area such as Casterton District Pioneers & History: http://www.ballaratgenealogy.org.au/casterton/index.html
